Position overview
We are looking for an experienced Automotive Network and Impact Chain Expert to lead the development and optimization of network communication systems within future electric architectures. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in automotive networking protocols, topologies, and architectures, and will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless integration and performance of the electric architecture across various vehicle systems and components.
Roles & responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of network communication systems including CAN (Controller Area Network), LIN (Local Interconnect Network), Ethernet, and other automotive networking protocols.
- Define and document network communication requirements, specifications, and interfaces considering factors such as bandwidth, latency, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with system architects, hardware engineers, and software developers to integrate network communication systems ensuring compatibility, interoperability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct network performance analysis, simulation, and testing to validate the functionality, reliability, and robustness of network communication systems under various operating conditions and environmental factors.
- Develop and maintain impact chain models and analyses assessing the effects of network communication disruptions or failures on vehicle performance, safety, and functionality.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on automotive network communication systems, impact chain analysis methodologies, and best practices for electric architecture design and development.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in automotive networking technologies, standards, and regulations, and integrate relevant innovations to enhance performance and competitiveness.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in automotive networking, with a focus on network communication systems and protocols.
- Deep understanding of automotive networking protocols and standards, including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and automotive Ethernet
- Experience with automotive network development tools and software, such as Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, Wireshark, and Ethernet-based tools for network analysis and debugging.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electric architectures, including power distribution, communication networks, and vehicle electrification technologies.
- Familiarity with impact chain analysis methodologies and tools for assessing the consequences of network communication disruptions or failures on vehicle performance and safety.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Previous experience in electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) development, with a focus on electric architectures and networking.
- Knowledge of automotive functional safety standards and methodologies, such as ISO 26262, for network communication systems and electric architectures.
- Experience with model-based development (MBD) tools and methodologies, such as MATLAB/Simulink, for automotive network design and validation.
- Certification in automotive networking or related fields (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Associate [CCNA]).
- Demonstrated leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex automotive projects.
Physical requirements
- Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Comfortable standing and walking for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5 hours)
- This job operates in a port and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, move, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift.
The hiring range for this position is between $120,000 - $160,000 commensurate with the candidate's level of experience.
