Work Arrangement:
Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their assigned plant on a full-time basis.

As a Quality Engineer intern at GM, you would drive problem solving and resolutions based on data driven solutions to suppliers and internal customers. Your work would involve functioning as a technical liaison between production operations, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality at a GM manufacturing plant. Responsibilities may include:

Interact with production and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality and reliability

Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product
-
Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to Quality Systems Manager
-
Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills
-
Validate supplier scrap
-
Work with Supplier Practical Problem Solving (SPPS) process on supplier related issues
-
Support the PTR Process by running PTR's and evaluating impact on the product / function
-
Support launch activities of new products

Support the implementation and effective adherence to all elements within GMS
Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to:
-
Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
-
Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
-
Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
-
Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes.
-
Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).
-
Frequently and repetitively bend, twist, kneel, crouch and reach to perform work.

Lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.

Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
-
Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Material Sciences, Manufacturing Engineering, or related area

Must be graduating between December 2025 and May 2028

Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months
-
Willing to work in a plant environment

Start dates for this internship role are May and June of 2025.
Compensation:
-
The salary range for this role is $4,000 - $4,900 monthly, dependent upon class status and degree.
-
GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
