The role

To work within the BIW Assembly Department/Sheet Metal Department producing hand crafted body panels for our range of vehicles. You will be manipulating pre-formed panels and building complete coach-built bodies and/or bonnets in readiness for assembly.

Specific duties will include but are not limited to:

  • The manufacture of body panels using traditional sheet metal skills/methods
  • Hammer forming of components from part or fully pressed components
  • TIG welding of body panels (Aluminium)
  • Preparation of assembled bodies and panels for paint
  • General sheet metal and fabrication work

Specific skills required:

  • Proven Sheet Metal/Fabrication/Welding credentials (City & Guilds/NVQ etc).
  • Excellent practical TIG/MIG welding skills and an understanding of welding distortion.
  • Proven ability to manufacture automotive body panels for the niche sector
  • Being able to prepare BIW assemblies for paint
  • The ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Previous automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to retain focus during periods of repetitive work.
  • Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Working with job specific standard times.
  • Experience in using manufacturing jigs.
  • Use of MRP manufacturing systems.

  • Starting salary £27,600 gross pa
