Principal Engineer
Overview:
Systems Engineer with 12+ years of experience in aerospace / avionics product / system development
Basic Qualifications:
- BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication engineering or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with at least 10 years of experience.
Experience:
- Hands-on experience in end-to-end avionics/aerospace product development - Requirements, Architecture, Design, Integration and Verification as a systems lead.
- Experience in avionic system architecture and functionalities
- Good knowledge of HW design, testing, qualification, certification and manufacturing processes of avionic/aerospace systems.
- Proficiency in Linux and RTOS based embedded software development.
- Proficiency and work experience with avionic data buses and communication protocols – ARINC 429, AFDX, Ethernet, CAN, etc.
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, 5G, IEEE 802.15.4
- Experience with working on tools like JAMA, DOORS, JIRA, Polarion, TeamCentre.
- Proficiency and experience in Model based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is desirable.
- Experience with wireless product certification (FCC, RED, ISED) is desirable.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Converts product requirements into total system solutions, leads trade studies, and implements common work practices.
• Executes objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects.
• Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and makes recommendations for the generation of verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
• Performs trade studies and defines system architecture for systems of low-to moderate complexity.
• Supports product design reviews - SRR,PDR, CDR, TRR, etc. and RRCAs.
• Supports in achieving compliance of the products and processes to aerospace standards like ARP 4754, ARP 4761, DO-160G, DO-178C, TSOs, etc.
• Implements digital engineering practices for systems engineering discipline - MBSE, Digital twins, Automation, etc.
• Coordinate and facilitate the product development and evaluation ensuring work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.
• Supports system certification process and activities by preparing the required artefacts and ensuring their compliance with the regulatory standards of FAA, EASA, etc.
Product / Process Capability development
• Propose new ideas for automation, process and efficiency improvement
• Participate and supports competency development plan.
• Support re-use of Engg. Tools from organization tools repository.
• Participate/lead in CORE events.
• Support Productivity savings per plan.
• Support to improve and sustain Process maturity for applicable CORE processes.
• Participate in submission of invention disclosures and technical papers.
• Support technology projects relevant to the domain of expertise.
• Participate in process innovations (e.g. LEAN events and proposals)
Coaching and Mentoring
- Coach and review the work of lower level professionals
- Conduct technical trainings in the respective domain of expertise
